Purpose

This statement publicly outlines our organisation’s commitment to safeguarding, safety and wellbeing of children and young people. It is intended to be displayed and shared across our physical and online environments and communicated to everyone involved with our organisation.

Our public commitment

We are committed to promoting the safeguarding, safety and wellbeing of all children and young people who engage with our organisation.

We have zero tolerance for child abuse, grooming, exploitation, neglect, and any form of harm. We take all concerns and allegations seriously and will act promptly to protect children and young people.

How we prioritise safety and wellbeing

We prioritise children’s safety and wellbeing by:
Creating a child-safe culture where everyone understands their responsibilities
Screening and onboarding staff and contractors appropriately for child-related work (where required)
Providing clear behaviour expectations for staff, contractors, volunteers, and participants
Supervising activities and managing risks in venues, online environments, and during travel
Ensuring children and young people are treated with respect and their dignity is protected
Responding quickly to concerns, incidents, and disclosures

We listen to children and young people

We are committed to listening to children and young people and taking their views seriously.

We support children and young people to:

Speak up if something feels unsafe
Ask questions and raise concerns without fear of getting in trouble
Know who they can talk to and how to get help

Reporting concerns and responding to harm

Anyone who has a concern about a child’s safety or wellbeing must report it immediately.

We will:

Take immediate steps to ensure safety
Follow relevant child protection laws and mandatory reporting requirements
Notify appropriate authorities where required
Document and escalate concerns through our internal process
Support the child or young person and their family/carers (as appropriate)

This statement is communicated to everyone involved with our organisation and is publicly available.

We will:

Display this statement in relevant physical locations (where children and young people are present)
Publish it on our website
Include it in onboarding and training materials
Provide it to partners/clients when child participation is involved
