A Recent Brisbane to Hunter Valley Journey – But Your Route, Your Way
Picture this: Your team standing outside your Brisbane office, Amazing Race envelope in hand, about to embark on a multi-day adventure across regional Australia in campervans. This isn’t a dream – it’s exactly what one of our recent corporate clients experienced with Team Fun’s Campervan Amazing Race. But here’s the exciting part: every Campervan Amazing Race is completely different, designed around where your team wants to start, where you want to finish, and how many days you want to adventure.
Let us share a recent journey to inspire your own custom Australian team building adventure.

How the Campervan Amazing Race Works

Before we dive into the recent Brisbane to Hunter Valley race, let’s explain how we make this seamless for your team:

We Handle All the Logistics

  • Campervan Sourcing: We arrange 5-berth campervans, fully fueled and ready to roll
  • Strategic Delivery: Vans are delivered to a convenient pickup point along your route
  • Luggage Management: We collect your team’s luggage beforehand and have it waiting inside the vans
  • Pre-Divided Teams: Teams are organized before the start – no awkward selections on race day
  • Complete Route Planning: From start to finish, we design every checkpoint and challenge
  • Accommodation Booking: Powered sites, caravan parks, or hotels – all pre-arranged
  • Meal Reservations: Dinner spots booked and ready for your arrival
You just show up ready for adventure. We handle everything else.

A Recent Example: Brisbane to Hunter Valley

The Start: Brisbane Office Departure

The race began at the client’s Brisbane office. Our Team Fun facilitators arrived with:
  • Amazing Race Envelopes for each team
  • Travel packs with essential information
  • The first cryptic clue to decode
Just like our traditional Brisbane Amazing Race events, teams immediately went into problem-solving mode. They decoded the clue and raced on foot through Brisbane’s streets to their first manned checkpoint, where our team was waiting.

First Challenge: Stock Your Van

At this checkpoint, teams competed in a skill and accuracy challenge. But this wasn’t just for points – points meant provisions. The better teams performed, the more food and drinks were stocked in their van’s fridge. This added a strategic element right from the start: perform well now, eat well later!
Once completed, teams received their next clue revealing:
  • The location of a colour-coded lockbox containing their van keys
  • Where their campervan was parked

Van Pickup and Orientation

Teams raced to find their lockbox, retrieved their keys, and located their van. Inside, they found:
  • Their luggage already loaded
  • A fully stocked fridge (based on their challenge performance)
  • A brief orientation on the van’s features
  • Their next Amazing Race envelope waiting on the dashboard
And they were off!

Day One: Brisbane to Warwick via Aratula

The Journey

Teams hit the road, driving through the beautiful Scenic Rim region. The route took them through:
  • Aratula: First driven checkpoint with team building activities in this charming rural town
  • Warwick: The first Pit Stop for the night

The Pit Stop

At Warwick, teams found:
  • Powered campervan sites ready and waiting
  • Dinner reservations at a local pub
  • Overnight accommodation in their campervans
  • Checkpoint times recorded – determining tomorrow’s start order
Just like the real Amazing Race, the order teams arrived determined when they’d start the next day. This kept the competitive element alive while ensuring everyone got proper rest.

Day Two: Warwick to Glen Innes via the Border

The Route

Day two featured stunning regional landscapes and multiple checkpoints:
  • Stanthorpe: Queensland’s wine country with challenges among the vineyards
  • Wallangarra: Right on the Queensland-NSW border
  • Tenterfield: Historic town with team building exercises tied to local heritage
  • Glen Innes: Second Pit Stop

Evening at Glen Innes

Instead of a restaurant, teams experienced true Australian camping:
  • BBQ on the campsite – teams cooked together
  • Campfire camaraderie – sharing stories from the day’s adventures
  • Team bonding in a relaxed, authentic setting
This is where the real magic happened – away from the competition, teams connected over shared meals and laughter.

Day Three: Glen Innes to Tamworth via Kentucky

The Challenges

Day three ramped up the adventure:
  • Armidale: Checkpoint in this university city
  • Kentucky: A fantastic outdoor team challenge in true rural Australia
  • Tamworth: Australia’s country music capital and the third Pit Stop

Tamworth Night

The evening in Tamworth was unforgettable:
  • True country meal at a local venue
  • Live country music – because when in Tamworth!
  • Team celebration of three days of adventure together
By this point, teams weren’t just colleagues anymore – they were adventure companions with shared stories and inside jokes.

Day Four: Tamworth to Hunter Valley – The Grand Finale

Choose Your Own Adventure

The final day offered something special: choice of routes to the Hunter Valley. Teams could strategize based on:
  • Scenic preferences
  • Challenge difficulty
  • Time management
  • Risk vs. reward
All routes converged at the Hunter Valley for the final Pit Stop.

Victory Toast

The race concluded with:
  • Hunter Valley wines – a toast to the winning team and all participants
  • Final celebration in one of Australia’s most beautiful wine regions
  • Team reflection on four days of adventure, challenges, and growth
  • Memories that would last far beyond the return to the office

Why This Format Works for Team Building

Authentic Australian Experience

Teams experience:
  • Regional Australia most tourists never see
  • Local communities and genuine hospitality
  • Diverse landscapes from cities to countryside
  • Real adventure – not a manufactured corporate event

Competitive Yet Collaborative

The staggered start times maintain competition, but teams also:
  • Share campsites and meals
  • Help each other with van issues
  • Celebrate together each evening
  • Build inter-team relationships

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should we book? We recommend 3-6 months for major routes, though we’ve accommodated shorter timelines. Peak seasons (November-December) book earliest.
Do participants need campervan experience? No! We provide orientation at van pickup, and our facilitators are available throughout for any questions or issues.
What about drivers? Teams self-drive, rotating drivers as they prefer. All drivers must have valid licenses and be comfortable driving larger vehicles.
Can we include team members with physical limitations? Absolutely! We design challenges with options so everyone can participate meaningfully. Teams strategically assign tasks based on individual strengths.
What’s included vs. additional costs? Included: Campervan rental, facilitators, challenge materials, safety equipment, accommodation booking, meal reservations, 24/7 support. Additional: Fuel, meals, accommodation fees, optional extras (alcohol, activities outside the race).
What happens in bad weather? We build flexibility into routes with indoor challenge alternatives. Outdoor challenges can be modified or relocated. Safety always comes first.
Can we combine this with other Team Fun events? Yes! Start with a traditional Sydney Amazing Race or Brisbane Amazing Race in the city, then transition to the campervan adventure. Or end with a celebration event at your destination.
Is this available Australia-wide? Yes! We operate across all Australian states and territories. Whether you want coastal, outback, wine country, or alpine adventures – we’ll design it.

Why Every Team Deserves Amazing Team Building – Regardless of Physical Ability

When searching for team building activities for work, most Australian companies assume they need to choose between inclusive options or exciting challenges. At Team Fun, we’ve revolutionized company team building activities by proving that accessibility and adventure aren’t mutually exclusive – they’re essential partners.

Breaking Down Barriers in Corporate Team Building

Traditional team building ideas for work often inadvertently exclude team members with varying physical abilities. Whether you have colleagues who use wheelchairs, team members recovering from injuries, or ultra-fit military personnel looking for serious challenges, our workplace team building ideas are designed to engage everyone at their optimal level.

Our Amazing Race Sydney events exemplify this philosophy. While one team might tackle the steps at the Opera House, another navigates the accessible harbour walkways – both experiencing equally thrilling team building challenges that contribute to the overall mission. Every participant feels valued, challenged, and integral to their team’s success. These inclusive Amazing Race events are available in Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra and pretty much Australia-wide.

Adaptive Team Building Events for Corporate Groups

Group activities shouldn’t mean “one-size-fits-all.” Our event designers work closely with HR teams to understand your group’s diverse needs. From modifying physical challenges to creating alternative problem-solving routes, we ensure every team building event for corporate groups celebrates differences while building unity.

Real Examples of Inclusive Excellence:

  • Wheelchair-Accessible Amazing Race Routes: Utilizing Sydney’s excellent accessibility infrastructure around Circular Quay and Darling Harbour
  • Multi-Level Survivor Challenges: Strategic roles for every physical ability, from puzzle-masters to physical challenge champions
  • Adaptive Game Show Experiences: Mental agility challenges that level the playing field
  • Flexible Outdoor Adventures: Multiple difficulty paths within the same event

Military-Grade Challenges Meet Inclusive Design

For teams that include military personnel or fitness enthusiasts, we don’t dial down the intensity – we dial up the strategy. Our team building events can simultaneously challenge the fittest participants while ensuring colleagues with different abilities contribute meaningfully to victory.

The Team Fun Difference in Australian Corporate Culture

Unlike standard team building ideas Melbourne or generic Sydney providers, Team Fun understands that Australia’s diverse workforce requires thoughtful, adaptive experiences. We’re not just creating activities – we’re building bridges between different abilities, backgrounds, and strengths.

Every event includes pre-planning consultations to identify team members’ needs, preferences, and any accommodations required. This isn’t an afterthought – it’s fundamental to our design process.

Ready for Truly Inclusive Team Building?

Whether your team includes wheelchair users, recent injury recoveries, military veterans, or mixed fitness levels, Team Fun creates team building activities for work where everyone wins. Contact us at 1300 044 197 or hello@teamfun.com.au to discuss how we’ll customize the perfect inclusive adventure for your Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra or global team.

Because the best teams aren’t built by excluding anyone – they’re built by including everyone.

Ever watched The Amazing Race and thought, “This would make an incredible team building event!”? You’re not alone. As viewers, we’re captivated by the heart-racing challenges, strategic thinking, and team dynamics that unfold on screen. But what happens when you bring this concept into the corporate world? Let’s dive into what you can really expect from a Corporate Amazing Race experience.

The Magic of Reality vs. Television

While television shows like The Amazing Race and Survivor spend millions on production and span multiple continents, corporate team building versions focus on creating equally engaging experiences in more accessible settings. Think less “Race across the Sahara Desert” and more “Navigate urban challenges with your colleagues in exciting ways you never imagined.”

What Makes Corporate Amazing Race Special?

  • Authentic Challenge Elements
  • Custom-designed checkpoints that test team skills
  • Strategic roadblocks that require creative thinking
  • Detours that force teams to make quick decisions
  • Fast-forward opportunities that reward strategic thinking

Local but Legendary
Instead of flying to foreign countries, which we can arrange as part of the Ultimate Amazing Race by the way, teams explore familiar territories in completely new ways. Urban environments transform into adventure playgrounds, and everyday locations become exciting challenge venues. The focus isn’t on exotic locations but on creating memorable experiences right where you are.

Professional Design
Unlike TV shows where drama and elimination drive the narrative, corporate versions focus on:

  • Inclusive participation for all team members
  • Challenges designed for various skill levels
  • Activities that build genuine team connections
  • Tasks that translate to workplace success

What to Actually Expect

The Challenges:

Problem-solving tasks that mirror real work scenarios
Physical activities suitable for all fitness levels
Communication challenges that strengthen team bonds
Strategic decisions that impact team performance

The Experience:

Professional facilitation throughout the event
Clear instructions and safety briefings
Support staff ensuring smooth operations
Real-time engagement and immediate feedback

Why It Might Be Better Than TV

While you probably won’t be racing across continents, corporate Amazing Race experiences offer unique benefits that TV can’t match:

Everyone participates (no elimination rounds!)
Immediate team building benefits
Challenges designed specifically for your group
Real connections with your colleagues
Lasting impact on team dynamics

Making It Count

The key to enjoying your Corporate Amazing Race experience is understanding that while it’s inspired by the TV show, it’s designed specifically for team building success. You’ll face challenges, make decisions, and work together in ways that create genuine team growth – all while having an incredibly fun time.

The Takeaway

When you join a Corporate Amazing Race event, come prepared for an experience that captures the essence of the show while delivering something even more valuable: real team development. You might not win a million dollars, but you’ll gain something potentially more valuable – stronger team bonds, improved communication, and memories that last long after the finish line.

Ready to Race?

While you won’t be visiting seven countries in seven days, you will experience an expertly crafted adventure that brings out the best in your team. The challenges are real, the excitement is genuine, and the team building benefits are lasting.

Creating the perfect Amazing Race experience for your team isn’t just about setting up checkpoints – it’s about crafting a journey that resonates with your company’s values and objectives while maximizing engagement and learning opportunities.

Tailoring Your Experience: Every company has unique goals and challenges. Here’s how we customize your Amazing Race experience:

• Company Values Integration
• Incorporate your mission statements into challenges
• Design tasks that reflect your corporate culture
• Create challenges that reinforce your team’s objectives

Location Selection: Sydney offers countless possibilities for Amazing Race checkpoints, each bringing unique advantages:

• The Rocks: Historical challenges and photography opportunities
• Darling Harbour: Water-based activities and modern architecture
• CBD: Urban navigation and business district challenges
• Botanical Gardens: Nature-based tasks and team reflection

Combine multiple events!

Create your ultimate adventure!

Why settle for just one adventure when you can create the ultimate team building extravaganza? At Team Fun, we’re all about mixing, matching, and mashing up our events to create something completely tailored to your crew.  The best part? Every element is customizable—we’ll weave in your company values, inside jokes, and team goals to create an experience that’s uniquely yours. Whether you want a 3-hour adrenaline rush or a multi-day epic adventure, we’ll craft the perfect blend of challenges, laughs, and unforgettable moments. Ready to design your team’s ultimate adventure? Let’s make it happen!

Perfect for schools! Let up bring out the competitive nature of the school kids with a school Olympic Games, then use a Foam and Colour Run as the final event of the day.

Full adrenaline! Follow the clues to find the location of the boss from Sydney, ending up at our Military Compound near Canberra. Plan, Train and Rescue the boss along side real Security Force Operators.

Multi Day Adventure! Set your team up for fun with a city Taskmaster. However the final task leads them to their camper vans and a map into the country. At one of the pitstops, we host a Trivia Champions giving the winning team an advantage the next day. Finish the event at a beach where the final trophy is buried and must be found using the pirates map!
